In the fall of 2009, The Vine Community Church began doing outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness at Goodholm Park in midtown Oklahoma City. Over time, they were able to develop personal relationships that went far beyond that single hour once per week. As the relationships deepened, many of the people involved in the Church community began to ask questions about homelessness and the cycle of poverty in Oklahoma City. During that time, HopeHouse OKC founders (Rhonda Hefton, Jeff Oakley, and Treb Praytor) began to meet regularly to try to think through solutions that could help people move from the streets to safe, stable, permanent housing. In the search for solutions, two things became increasingly clear: homelessness was a vicious cycle and the journey from the streets to self- sufficiency was nearly impossible to navigate without help.

As conversations continued, a passion was ignited to help end the cycle of homelessness in Oklahoma City and the dream of HopeHouse OKC was born. In the summer of 2011, HopeHouse OKC was launched with the mission to break the cycles of poverty and homelessness...one life at a time.
