Frequently asked questions.

Q. What is the admission process?

A: After receiving a completed application, a staff member of HopeHouse will reach out to the applicant to let them know that the application has been received. At that time, we will discuss availability and discuss next steps, whether that be processing the application or adding you to our waitlist.

When it is time for your application to be processed, there is a 2-part interview process: a phone interview followed by an in-person/Zoom interview.  These interviews allow the applicant to meet our staff, answer any questions we have about their application, talk about the program, and learn about our program.

Q. Can I drop off my application in person?

A: No. The address on our website and Google is not our physical address. For the safety of our living community, we do not give out our physical address before acceptance to our program. Please do not drop-off your application in-person to our PMB. If mailing your application is not an option, please complete our online application located on our website.

Q. What if I don’t have transportation?

A: If you do not have transportation, we will help provide transportation for necessary events such as appointments, court dates, employment, etc.

Q. What do living accommodations look like?

A: There are multiple cottages on campus, and 3-4 families are assigned to each cottage. Each family will have their own family suite (bedroom(s)/bathroom), and living spaces such as the kitchen, laundry room, living room, etc. are shared amongst the families in the cottage.

Q. How long can I stay?

A: The HopeHouse OKC program is a 1-year program, with a possible extension for Graduates if wanted/needed.

Q. Am I allowed to leave or am I required to stay on-site at all times?

A: Residents are allowed to leave the campus . However, they must be present to participate in mandatory programming and be back by curfew each night.

Q. Is there a curfew and why?

A: Yes, there is a curfew of 10:00 pm each night, including weekends. The curfew is set as a means of accountability for our families. It also allows our families to get in healthy rhythms with their children and for themselves.

Q. Can my kids come with me? Are there age restrictions on my kids that can live with me?

A: Children are absolutely welcome at HopeHouse! HopeHouse OKC is a program specifically for mothers with their dependent children. “Dependent” refers to children under the age of 18 years old or children who are differently abled, mentally or physically, that cause them to be dependent above the age of 18 years old.

Q. What if I am currently pregnant?

A: You are still welcome to apply for our program! If you feel that you will need additional assistance during your pregnancy and postpartum, we can refer you to partner organizations whose missions are to support pregnant mothers.

Q. Do I need to have a job before I come?

A: Absolutely not. We have various employment opportunities that you can choose from depending on your transportation needs.

Q. Is my family allowed to visit?

A: We do allow visitors in certain buildings on campus. Visitors are not allowed in the shared-living cottages, but we have various spaces around our living community specifically set up for family time. In order to keep a safe living community, all guests must be approved by a Resident’s Family Advocate ahead of time.

No overnight guests are allowed at this time.

Q. Can you help house couples or men at this time?

A: Due to our shared living accommodations, HopeHouse is unable to house adult male residents at this time. This includes single adult males, adult male children (18+ and not classified as “dependent”), and/or families in which any adult is a male.

Q. Do you help with rental assistance?

A: We do not help with any rental or utility assistance. Our transitional housing program assists families experiencing homelessness by offering comprehensive programs while providing safe, stable housing to families.
